The new GTi has taken a huge evolutionary step forward. Powered by a 2.0litre turbocharged engine, it delivers all the driving pleasure of the Golf but with added dynamite.
A six-speed gearbox comes as standard on the GTI but the driving experience can be heightened further with the optional alternative of a Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG), Volkswagen’s pioneering semi-automatic gearbox which allows gear shifts to be carried out using selected paddles on the back of the steering wheel when driving with the gearbox specified in tiptronic mode.
