Announced in December, the Skoda Scala is the latest addition to the Skoda range.  The Scala gained a lot of attention for being the first in the Skoda range to feature the new Skoda branding across the tailgate of the vehicle.

The unveiling of the family hatchback included details of several models including a choice of a 1.0 litre or 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine and a 1.6 litre TDI diesel engine option. A 1.0 G-Tec option to follow towards the end of 2019.

Fast forward to February and production of the Skoda Scala (the first based on Volkswagens Group’s MQB-A0 platform) is now fully underway at Mladá Boleslav.

The first Skoda Scala’s are now beginning to roll off the production line where it was originally designed and developed.

ŠKODA CEO, Bernhard Maier, said,

“We are starting a new chapter in ŠKODA’s compact car range with the new ŠKODA SCALA. It is an all-new model that sets benchmarks within its segment in terms of technology, safety and design.

The SCALA perfectly embodies the ŠKODA-typical ‘smart understatement’. We’re convinced that the SCALA has the best chance of redefining the compact segment for ŠKODA.”

To mark the occasion, the production team at Mladá Boleslav took a picture with to show the first two Skoda Scala’s that were made at the plant.

The Scala is due to hit UK shore later this year. You can keep up to date on Skoda related news via our Facebook page. If you are looking to purchase a Scala, please contact our sales team for more information.
