Skoda has announced a brand-new city SUV (it’s first) which expands its SUV range which includes the award-winning Skoda Kodiaq and Karoq. The Kamiq has taken some of the popular Skoda design features and implemented them into the enhanced stylish new city SUV.
The new Kamiq features the Skoda brand defining front radiator grille with a rugged front spoiler offering stylish new lines. The bonnet has been elevated to appear robust and flows nicely into the roofline to reinforce the high ground clearance. The additional changes to the design have been made to further re-enforce the Kamiq’s capabilities for off-road driving.
The Kamiq will be the first model in the Skoda range to feature split LED headlights with both daytime and nighttime running lights. The design of the headlight has been styled to give that three-dimensional crystalline effects and give the impression of glistening jewels when illuminated.
In terms of performance, all models of the Kamiq will feature direct-injection units with turbochargers. The entry-level model will feature a 1.0 TSI (95PS) and will feature a manual 5-speed gearbox. There will also be a 1.0 TSI (115ps)6-speed gearbox that can be upgraded to a 7-speed DSG as an option. A 1.5 TSI and a four-cylinder 1.6 TDI diesel engine model will also be made available in due course. The Skoda Kamiq will come with brake energy recovery as well as Stop/Start technology as standard, which will be perfect for driving in city environments.
Interior wise, the Kamiq will have high-quality soft foam surfaces and textures resembling crystalline structures that match the lines found on the exterior of the vehicle. The interior is designed to provide comfort with Suedia microfiber seats and side air vents extended into the doors to enhance the spacious feel of the interior.
The Infotainment system is a free-standing touchscreen that takes prominence in the centre console. Permanent internet connection is an option and features eCall which can communicate information back to the driver such as fuel information etc; whether they are driving or sitting comfortably in their living room.
The Kamiq will feature a range of options so that you can best customise your model to your needs. This includes safety features as well. Front Assist and Lane Assist will be available as a standard feature. Adaptive cruise control, driver alert, crew protect assist and rear-view camera and park assist are available as optional extras.
