For the last 15 years, Skoda has been a Tour de Force partner for the Tour de France through its sponsorship deal. This successful relationship is set to continue to 2023 with the announcement of an extension to its current deal with Tour de France organiser A.S.O.
Alain Favey ŠKODA AUTO Board Member for Sales and Marketing said:
“ŠKODA and cycling go hand in hand.
The extension of our long-standing partnership with the Tour de France organiser A.S.O. emphasises the ŠKODA brand’s close connection to cycling, and supporting the Tour de France as well as other renowned cycling events is an expression of our 124-year company tradition.
Indeed, our brand’s success story began with the production of bicycles in December 1895.”
Skoda has been providing support in many forms throughout the Tour including sponsoring the Green Jersey and providing logistical support for team and race officials. This includes the Red Car command centre that has a retractable glass roof to provide optimal views of the peloton before the start of a stage.
The Tour De France saw 12 million cycling enthusiasts flock to the circuit and approximately 1.4 billion television viewers in 190 countries around the globe making it the third largest sporting event in the world. The event app was powered by Skoda Auto with 1.5 million devices downloading and using the app over the course of 2018.
Given the continuing success and growth of the Tour de France, Skoda is happy to continue their relationship and sponsorship for the years to come.
