Ever since we provided a teaser for the upcoming fourth-generation Skoda Octavia, we have been inundated with requests for more information on various channels including social media. Everyone has been asking about the specs, performance and release date amongst other questions.
Well, thankfully we can now announce more details on the all-new Skoda Octavia, including the first look at the new design.
The all-new Octavia still retains its core values that include functionality, practicality, elegance but feature a heavier focus the design accents of the vehicle. Changes to the Octavia have been designed to provoke a more dynamic and emotional response for a new generation.
The Octavia’s proportions have been designed to be bolder and more confident. This includes giving the front of the Octavia a more prominent facelift with a new double light signature and a redesign of the front grille with vertical slats. The rear of the Octavia has also been redesigned to have a much more 3-dimensional look which is enhanced by the new C-shape tail lights.
Interior wise, there is a much more spacious and airier feel with an all-new dashboard shape designed for drivers to have easier access to control the new free-standing display. The new Octavia will also be the first Skoda to feature news heads up display on the windscreen.
There are a few other new innovations that have been included such as a two-spoke wheel system and a shift by wire DSG automatic transmission system which has made it possible to replace the selector lever with a small control module.
The all-new Octavia also features a range of new safety features such as the new collision-avoidance system, turn to assist, exit warning systems and an all-new traffic system that can alert drivers to specific hazards such as road obstructions or black ice for example. For additional driver comfort, there is also the addition of the climatronic three-zone air conditioning system.
The Octavia has also seen an increase in boot space that has seen the liftback model increase in storage volume to 600 litres (an increase of 10 litres) with the estate version increasing to 640 litres (an increase of 30 litres).
For those who want to know what options are available under the bonnet, a full range of options will be made available to order. This includes enhanced petrol engine versions (which can be equipped with mild hybrid technology (mHEV).), new generation Evo diesel engines and also a compressed natural gas (CNG) drive option will be available. The all-new Octavia will also be getting a plug-in-hybrid option and additional trims such as the Octavia RS and Octavia Scout will also be launched in due course.
