The first model of the new Volkswagen ID family has finally been revealed as the ID. 3. The new all-electric hatchback will be the first of the ID family to launch followed by the ID Crozz, ID. Vizzion and the ID. Roomzz.  The ID. 3 marks the start of the third major chapter of Volkswagens larger strategic plan they move towards building a fully electric range with e-mobility at its core.

So, what can we expect from the ID. 3 1st edition in terms of performance?

Well, the ID. 3 first edition will feature a medium sized battery built upon the Volkswagen Group MEB platform. This will give owners of the 1st edition a range of around 260 miles based on the current WLTP cycle. The special edition ID. 3 1st will feature a range of comprehensive equipment (to be confirmed) along with the new IQ. Light system, bi-colour interior and exterior design, voice control and navigation and large wheel rims. The special edition is expected to retail for around £35,000 (tbc)

The stand version of the ID.3 will launch after the 1st Edition and will available with 3 battery variants. The small battery can deliver a range of around 202 miles with the large battery variant able to deliver a range of around 340 miles based on the current WLTP cycle. The smallest battery standard version of the ID. 3 should retail for around £25,000 (tbc).

More details on the specs, performance and available features of both the ID. 3 1st edition and the standard version will be revealed at the IAA International Motor Show. 

30,000 ID.3 1st Editions will be made for available for pre-order and delivered to customers in the carbon-neutral form with an expected date of mid-2020.
