The Volkswagen ID range has managed to capture drivers' and critics' hearts since first launching a few years ago. Since then, we have seen the ID.3 win numerous awards and earlier this year, the ID.4 won the much-coveted ‘World Car of the Year' award. To date, the ID range currently consists of a full electric record-breaking race car, a hot hatch, an SUV with more models set to be added to the line-up.
Thankfully you won’t have to wait too long for news on the latest entry in the ID series as the brand-new ID.5 GTX SUV coupe is set to be unveiled at this years’ IAA Munich Motor Show.
Volkswagens ID.5 GTX is the first all-electric SUV coupe to be added to the range, with fluid lines, short overhangs, and big wheels to highlight its strong character while providing a sporty but elegant look.
The ID.5 GTX will build upon the current Volkswagen Modular Electric Dive Matrix (MEB) and include a powerful dual engine four-wheel-drive system and is fully connected to receive over-the-air using Car2X technology.
When the ID.5 makes its full international unveiling, we can expect to see and hear more about some of the features that are currently only being teased at the moment. However, we do know that the GTX will feature a large lithium-ion battery between the axles and should provide a projected range of around 308 miles.
This will be combined with delivering strong four-wheel-drive performance, superior traction, and sporty handling. The all-electric D.5 is the second GTX which is driving forward future Volkswagen vehicles with new athleticism and building upon the traditions of the successful GTI, GTD, and GTE models as part of transitioning to the world of electric mobility.
The Volkswagen ID.5 GTX will be launching in 2022, so keep an eye out for more details coming via our website and on our social media channels. In the meantime, here is a sneak peek video of the ID.5 GTX before its international unveiling.
