Over the last few months, we have seen that Volkswagen’s focus has been on the ID range especially with the launch of the all-electric ID.4. While the future is electric many have been wondering what Volkswagen has in store for those looking for a more traditional fuel-powered vehicle. Well, we have some good news, as Volkswagen has taken the wraps off its new Taigo SUV compact crossover.
For the European launch, Taigo owners will also be able to benefit from a 9.2-inch infotainment system and a digital dash being included. The Taigo will also feature an R-Line trim for those who want more performance and a sportier look.
As you can see the Taigo definitely has that small sporty SUV compact look nailed down, but what about performance options?
The Taigo will feature two initial engine options; a 70kW turbocharged three-cylinder 1.0 and a 110kW 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine (*subject to change). Depending on your engine choice you will also be able to choose between a 5 or 6-speed manual gearbox. For those who drive automatics, there will be a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission version made available.
There will be four different trim levels that include a range of options, from 16” alloys through to a 10.25-inch digital cockpit pro dash, with an upgraded eight-inch infotainment touch screen and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto feature enabled. There will also be a range of colours including this eye-catching ‘Visual Green’ model.
Volkswagen is set to launch the Taigo in 2022, and we will have more details in the upcoming months available in the run-up to launch.
