The I.D. Range from Volkswagen has been causing a stir since its unveiling in 2016. The range has become known for its commitment to e-mobility and stylish and modern designs.

So far, we have seen the I.D., the Buzz and the Vizzion concepts become part of the range. The latest model in the concept line up has been unveiled at the 2019 Shanghai Motor Show. The I.D. Roomzz is a brand new zero-emissions SUV designed for both business and modern lifestyle needs.

From the outside, the Roomzz is designed to look like it has been fashioned from one single piece of material. The bodywork keeps the homogeneous lines that feature within the I.D. range but is still able to convey its unique personal elements that make it an SUV that stands out.

The Roomzz will feature an 82-kWh battery that powers two electric motors. These can continuously drive both axels with an output of 306PS maximising the electric 4MOTION Technology features. Performance wise, the Roomzz has an acceleration time of 0-62mph in around 6.6 seconds with a top speed of approximately 111mph. The large battery within should be able to deliver a range of around 270 miles before the battery has to be recharged. The Roomzz also features a fast charging system meaning you should be able to recharge 80% of the battery capacity in around 30 minutes.

Inside, the conventional dashboard design has been swapped out for a fully immersive glass panel digital cockpit with a floating digitalised steering wheel. Drivers will be able to utilise the future IQ Drive system allowing the Roomzz to glide through traffic automatically. The driver is kept up to date with information via the dashboard and also via interactive light zones fitted into the interior design of the interior door panels.

Comfort wise, drivers will be able to activate the I.D Pilot relax mode and be able to recline and rotate each seat individually 25 degrees inwards. This makes for a more relaxed lounge-like atmosphere in the cabin. Especially when you consider the added CleanAir system which uses an active filter system to ensure that clean air is circulated throughout the cabin, even if the ambient air outside isn’t.

The Roomzz is expected to initially be launched in the Chinese market sometime in 2021. Fear not for those outside of Chinese markets, the I.D. Crozz is still being developed and we should hear more about that in the coming months.
